My first blog

New Beginnings

“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.”

Hello world! I am Katrina Parslow and this is my first blog post.  I am Irish and live in Levallois-Perret with my French husband and son.  I have lived in France for nearly 20 years (I have lost count) but I still have an accent much to the amusement to my friends.  I will also be trying to write this blog in both english and french and my attempts at the latter are likely to provide more amusement to them! However, every accomplishment starts off with a decision to try!

It is a big year for me.  In addition to learning how to blog, I am starting my own business which is something I have never done before. Having spent many years working in well-known companies including experience in retail and hospitality I have decided to take the plunge and create a coworking café.  It is an exciting and truly terrifying moment in my life.  However, I think there is a real need for this type of business in Western Paris and its suburbs.  I have a vision of creating a place which encourages people to get out of bed in the morning.  Ha ha!

  • Imagine an intersection of office, living room and café.
  • Imagine a happy modern environment with great Wi-Fi and comfortable spaces to work or relax
  • Imagine a collaborative community of like-minded people who share your professional and personal interests.  Imagine being happy to see them!

Does that all sound good? I hope so because I am about to dedicate my life to creating it.

Perhaps I will not succeed to open or perhaps it will be a great success but as a (foolish?) optimist I have decided to share the journey documenting the life of an entrepreneur and, presumably, many highs and lows along the way.  I don’t know how often I will post yet but I thought I would try to document the voyage in my own humble way.

Please wish me luck and I am very open to advice and suggestions.
